ZACCHAEUS

Zacchaeus is out of his tree
And it’s all because of Jesus
Zacs’ taxes will never be the same
And it’s all because of Jesus

As Jesus passed through Jericho
Excited crowds stood row by row
But Zac was short and couldn’t see
So he climbed up in a sycamore tree

Now, the people didn’t like him much
‘Cause their taxes are what made him rich
And sometimes as he walked the street
Behind his back they’d call him “cheat!”

But, as Jesus passed beneath that tree
He said, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately,
Today I’m staying at your place
So come down, there’s no time to waste.”

Amazed the crowd began to mutter
And some were even heard to splutter
“He’s eating with a total sinner
How could these two be sharing dinner?!”

But after lunch something had changed
The people said that it was strange
But just an hour or two with God
Can change even the hardest heart

He said, “Half of everything I own
Is going to the poorest homes
And I’m giving back four times more
Than everything I took before.”

Let’s join with Creation around the Throne
On which the Lamb is seated
Give glory to Jesus who stands alone
His enemies crushed and defeated

With thousands of angels we worship You
Singing “Worthy the Lamb who was slain
To Jesus alone all our praise is due
His Kingdom forever shall reign”

Every creature in heaven and on the earth
Give glory to Jesus, Messiah
With joy and with reverence exalt His Worth
Together let’s lift Jesus higher

To Him who sits on the throne
And to the Lamb be praise
And honour and glory and power
For ever more
